Production Blog: Revisions

Hello everyone! Thank you and welcome back to my blog! If you tuned in yesterday, you would know I had my commercial revised by my friend. He gave me many critiques that I agreed with and gave me a couple ideas on how to fix them as well. Which brings me into the topic of todays blog! Todays blog is going to be on the process of revising and fixing all the issues with my commercial. The first feedback I received was on the flow of the commercial, at some points it was boringly slow and others it was too fast to understand. So to fix this I went back to the storyline from my blog two days ago. I completely rethought of the way everything was aligned together. At first, everything was in chronological order, but I decided it would make sense to have everything connected in categories. I put all the important people in my life together, and all my hobbies/things I enjoy doing together. It was harder to decide exactly what order I put everything, in order for the transitions to be smooth, but in the end I do believe it looks much better. The next thing that was criticized was the audio not linking up with the clips and transitions. This was subsequently fixed while working on the flow of my commercial. The final revision I needed to make was the color difference between the photos and videos. I would come from a dark video into a bright and colorful photo, and while the transition helped it still didnt look good. I fixed this by going into Adobe Lightroom, and adjusted the color grading on all the photos and videos. This was quite easy because of a setting Lightroom has that allows me to copy adjustments from one photo onto another. And all I had to do was adjust accordingly as not all photos would look good with the exact same adjustment. In the end, I'm really proud of how my commercial turned out. I lacked a lot of experience needed for this type of project, but through a lot of videos, tutorials, and trail and error, I figured out how to do everything I required, and in the end it was quite a lot of fun. That's all! Thank you for tuning in to the process of me making my commercial, have an amazing day and i hope to see you again sometime soon!
