Production Blog: Starting the Finishing Touches

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome back to the blog. If you have been tuning in, you know that me and my group have been making a music video. The last blog was on the process of us beginning the filming for our video. Todays blog is going to be on the process of me editing the videos taken last week. David and I got three usable videos during filming last week, he sent all of his off to me and i imported them into Adobe Lightroom. I have never been used Lightroom for videos before so it was a small learning curve learning how to use tools like masking. But, I wasn't making any changes to the video so it was alright. My main goal for this editing session was to tweak the lighting, contrast, and other settings so each video fit with each other and the vibe of the music. And then later when all of our filming is complete, I will make more drastic changes. Most of the videos did not need any major changes, but there were various changes I had to make because of the differences between Davids vi

Production Blog: The Beginning

Hello everyone! Welcome back to the blog! Just to recap if you haven't been tuning in, me and a couple friends are creating a music video using the song "Best Day Of My Life" by American Authors. We created a story board, set a plan, and purchased all the props we felt necessary. Today's blog is going to be on the beginning of my filming process! David has already begun filming the first few scenes, but I never got the chance until now. So I took a couple hours of my day to begin. First scene I had to film was the waking up scene. This scene overall wasn't difficult to film, all I had to do was wake up and make my bed. But getting the right lighting, camera angle, and keeping a decent pace to fit with the song was annoying. I took 3 small takes to test out the lighting and camera angle. The wide-shot angle I used was perfect for the scene, but the lighting wasn't quite right. My plan was to have a pitch-black room, with a dim light on me, and then I would wak

Production Blog: Shopping

Hello everyone! Welcome back to the blog! If you have been tuning in to the blog, you are all caught up on the process of me and my group making our music video. If you haven't been tuning in, i suggest you read the previous blog in which I talked about the process of me revising our storyboard, and planned for filming. Today's blog is going to be on the process of me shopping for equipment and props. For background, I already have a good camera and lenses because i enjoy photography, meaning -in addition to our phone cameras- we already have the essential equipment needed for the filming side of our production. Additionally, Jake and David have most of the main props we need for the video like the jet skis, kitchen appliances, and lights for specific shots. So, when i was shopping i wasn't looking for any major additions to the video. I was mainly looking for a few small things that, while not huge, will still make a major improvement to the overall quality to our music vi

Production Blog: Revision & Further Planning

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome back to the blog! During the last blog we introduced our storyboard, and the plan for our music video. During this blog I am going to be speaking on the process of revising the storyboard, and planning further for the music video. First off, when creating the storyboard we missed a large part of our video. We wanted to include a part of David and I in the gym, but when we created the storyboard, it slipped our mind and we forgot it. This was an easy fix. I really quickly edit the storyboard to include the gym part and moved on with the planning. I'm not going to be in town the weekend of the 21st, so we had to find another time to start filming, whether it was on a weekday after school, or the weekend of the 28th. We decided it would be best to start filming on the weekdays, doing small solo shoots that we don't need to meet up for, and meet up on the weekend of the 28th to film the big parts like us jet-skiing, and shopping. I drive David home from sch

Planning For Our Music Video

Song Title  Central to every music video is the song. The heartbeat that gives life to the visuals. "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors is our muse, with the optimistic energy, and upbeat spirit. The song, which acts as a testament to seizing the day and making the most out of life's adventures, serves as our guiding star in this journey. Props Props can be the make or break of a music video, enhancing the storyline and amplifying the video's narrative. Drawing from the upbeat vibes of "Best Day of My Life", we plan on recreating "the perfect day". We plan on doing this by using props such as a phone, to represent getting text by your friend to hang out, a jet-ski to represent hanging out with that friend, and weights like dumbbells' and barbells to show us working out with that friend. All of these props are going to be used and aligned with the song to portray a "perfect day/weekend" with friends. Costumes Dressing the part ca

Hello, my name is Conner Cleary, my favorite color is blue, I used to live in Rhode Island, and I have 4 siblings. I moved to Florida eight years ago, and I am currently a sophomore attending Fort Lauderdale High School, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I attended Bayview Elementary, in which I gained a love for reading and science. I also met some of my closest friends who have been with me since then and hopefully will be with me for life. For my middle school years, I attended Sunrise Middle, in which I spent most of my time online due to Covid-19. and although it limited my middle school experience, I grew a lot closer with my friends and myself. Despite getting worse at math, I started improving myself on a physical and mental level. I got better at managing my time, started going to the gym, and gained more confidence in myself. Last year I began attending Fort Lauderdale High School, it was my second year back in person in school. I made a lot of new friends, and lost some old one

Group Blog

Hello everyone! Welcome back to the blog! Today, I am going to be talking about who I decided to work with for my music video, and the songs we decided on! First off, the person I chose to work with was David Ingber. The reason I made this decision was for many reasons, firstly, we live extremely close to each other, so working together on the video would be easy and not take much planning. Additionally, David and I have been hanging out every day for the past month and a half. We both have similar thinking and creative styles when it comes to school and he is a fun person to work/ hang out with. We decided the work would be better and easier if we could have another person to work with, so we decided to work with Jake Delnegri. Jake lives close to both of us, and is many of our classes so he would be easy and fun to work with. Continuing on, as a trio, we decided to make a quick idea of how our video would go. Then, we had to decide what songs we wanted to use. We chose a few songs fr
