Production Blog: The Beginning
Hello everyone! Welcome back to the blog! Just to recap if you haven't been tuning in, me and a couple friends are creating a music video using the song "Best Day Of My Life" by American Authors. We created a story board, set a plan, and purchased all the props we felt necessary. Today's blog is going to be on the beginning of my filming process! David has already begun filming the first few scenes, but I never got the chance until now. So I took a couple hours of my day to begin. First scene I had to film was the waking up scene. This scene overall wasn't difficult to film, all I had to do was wake up and make my bed. But getting the right lighting, camera angle, and keeping a decent pace to fit with the song was annoying. I took 3 small takes to test out the lighting and camera angle. The wide-shot angle I used was perfect for the scene, but the lighting wasn't quite right. My plan was to have a pitch-black room, with a dim light on me, and then I would wake up and the lighting would increase so you would see my bed and I. This turned out to be harder than expected, since the lighting would always be off at some point of the video, but I should be able to easily fix it in editing. Once I got a take that looked good I moved onto the cooking scene, because I can always go back and reshoot these scenes, so I rather get them done and see how they fit in the video. The cooking scene was simple, I put my camera on my ceiling and got a birds-eye view of me making a bacon egg and cheese bagel. I only took one take, and am planning on fixing lighting and pace in editing. I think the scene came out pretty well, I am unsure if I'm going to do a time-lapse, or cut out scenes, but that is a tomorrow me issue. Thank you all for tuning in! I hope you have a great day, and I cant wait to see you in the next blog of my process of editing the scenes filmed today.
