Production Blog: Beginning of Filming
Hello everyone! Welcome back to the blog! If you've been tuning in recently, you know that my group and I are working on a short film about the loss of someone important, and the following tragedy. Today's blog is going to be the first step towards the completion of that film. The opening scene of our movie consists of drone shots and pan shots of the boat parade, and then transitions into a car ride with the female lead. Currently, we haven't decided on who our female lead will be due to scheduling issues, so we decided to film these scenes without including any characters in them yet. The drone shots were pretty easy to film, the hardest part was waiting for the boats to pass by. Furthermore, the car ride scene was a hassle to film. Valentina, Alyssa, Finn, and I met up and played on where to film, and finally decided that Lighthouse Point would be the best bet. We took my car and drove to the area, at which Finn and I swapped seats and he drove my car. Alyssa and Valentina were tasked with the job of getting over-the-shoulder shots of Finn, while also prioritizing the background road and lights as well. I took side shots of Finn from the passenger seat, hoping to emphasize his face and emotions. Additionally, my job was to use my gimbal and get roller shots of the car. This proved to be extremely difficult due to wind. We were driving at roughly 40 miles an hour, and the wind resistance hitting the gimbal led to it being very unstable, so we decided to continue filming and focus on using small clips edited together for our film. This is something I will have to work on at a later time once we figure out what song we want for the opening scene. That's it for today's blog! Tomorrow's blog, I will be updating you all tomorrow on the editing process of these few short shots for the opening scene. Have a great rest of your day! See you tomorrow.
